Eight story structure templates

Most templates share one backbone: a world, a disturbance, rising stakes, a low point and a final choice. They differ in where they put the weight: the midpoint of the three acts, the inner change of the Hero's Journey, the climax in the middle of Freytag's tragedies, the price paid in the Story Circle, the cold open of in medias res, the backward planning of seven points, the rising crises of the Fichtean curve and the page targets of the 15-beat sheet.

A structure is not protected by copyright as such: following its shape is free, copying a famous film scene by scene with new names is not. A method can be free to use while the title of its book is a trademark. General information, not legal advice.
