AI-generated, AI-assisted or composed?

Episode 3 of 14 of our podcast on copyright and AI.

0:00 / 2:04

A work purely generated from a basic instruction has no copyright: the model did all the expression. A work a human creates and the AI only corrects or refines stays fully the human's. In between are composed works, where a person selects, arranges and modifies generated parts into a larger whole.

The US Copyright Office's decision on the comic book Zarya of the Dawn shows the line: Kristina Kashtanova's text and page layout were protected, the Midjourney images inside the panels were not.
